... where life just gets better

People of all ages love Glade Spring -- from children who enjoy its parks, to college students who attend nearby Emory & Henry College, to parents who enjoy raising children in peaceful, safe environments. But one of Glade Spring’s most cherished groups are its retirees and senior citizens.

These people devote much of their time, boundless energy and enormous talent to building this community while enjoying many of the attributes that make their golden years shine. Glade Spring retirees are the backbone of the community, helping to support church and other area activities while providing the perspective of the past for a dynamic town.

Glade Spring retirees often enjoy the activities and community of the Glade Spring Area Senior Citizens Center located on Town Square. They also take advantage of the multitude of arts and entertainment opportunities provided by nearby Emory & Henry College, a leading center for the arts in Southwest Virginia.

Glade Spring looks after its senior citizens. Quality medical and emergency services are provided through the Glade Spring Community Clinic, which consists of practitioners in family medicine and family dentistry, and the Glade Spring Ambulance Service. Many seniors also enjoy the services of a well-organized Meals on Wheels Program and senior and elderly programs in area churches.
