Community Events

From April to October, residents and visitors gather in the square for a celebration of the community’s people, businesses and culture. On the first Saturday of each month, downtown merchants hold outdoor sales while local farmers sell fresh produce at what has become known as “Square Deal Day.” Every Thursday night local musicians, cloggers and singers perform at the town square gazebo.

During July, the Glade Spring Fire Department and Search and Rescue Squad sponsor the annual Glade Spring Summer Celebration. Residents and visitors gather at the Glade Area Park and Pool to honor their country and community with fireworks, music and dancing. The celebration includes a variety of exhibit and craft booths as well as games and recreational activities. In addition to these activities, Glade Spring residents and visitors enjoy playing baseball at the town’s Dunn Field, which also includes a community center for meetings and special occasions, such as weddings and parties.

The warmth of the summer spills over into holiday season, when members of the community come together to worship and celebrate. Much of the attention is focused on Town Square, which features an annual Christmas parade and tree-lighting. Bright, cheerful holiday lights adorn most homes and businesses, reflecting not only an enthusiasm for the season but a deep devotion to the values of faith and community.
